How To Store Grapefruit in Your Home

So, you’ve bought some delicious red grapefruit. Congratulations! You’ve got a tasty treat ahead of you! In the meantime, you can use one of the following methods to store your grapefruit:

  • Eat It — If you plan on eating your grapefruit within a week, you can store your fruit on the counter, ideally where it can get plenty of airflow.
  • Refrigerate It — If you don’t plan on eating your grapefruit in the next week, you can store it in the fridge to make it last from two weeks to up to a month. Clean and carefully dry your fruit, put it in a plastic bag, and store it in your crisper drawer for the best results.
  • Freeze It — In the freezer, grapefruits can last up to a month! Carefully remove as much peel and white pith as possible and store the fruit in a bag before freezing.

How To Store Grapefruit in a Business

The key to storing grapefruit in bulk is temperature and airflow. The best way to store grapefruit for sale is in a refrigerated space in an open container. The temperature should be set between 45 and 50 degrees Fahrenheit, with relative humidity between 85 and 95%. Mesh bags can be ideal for storing grapefruit for extended periods, though crates with cushioning material may provide more protection from damage.
