Winter Sweetz is Taking to the Road

The 2018 Produce Marketing Association (PMA) Fresh Summit Convention & Expo is set to take place October 19th through the 20th, and we here at Winter Sweetz are taking the trip all the way to Orlando in order to better serve our Winter Sweetz fans.

We are eager to share our unbelievably sweet Texas red grapefruits with as many people as possible and we know that this year’s Fresh Summit Convention & Expo is going to be phenomenal. Our team is looking forward to meeting new people that share our passion in delivering healthy, delicious produce to customers everywhere.

Here’s what you need to know about this year’s event.

About the Produce Marketing Association

According to their website, the PMA is just what it sounds like, a “trading organization representing companies from every segment of the global fresh produce and floral supply chain.”

Their main goal is to help growers — like Winter Sweetz — by providing a platform to network and gain rare business opportunities.

The 2018 Fresh Summit Convention and Expo

The 2018 Fresh Summit Convention and Expo has quite a lineup of guest speakers:

• Peyton Manning will be sharing his experience on overcoming adversity, and ultimately succeeding, likening his experience to the challenges growers face.
• The PMA’s CEO, Cathy Burns, will be sharing State of the Industry insights and other business-related predictions.
• Greg Williams, Editor in Chief of Wired Magazine, will not only moderate a discussion, he will also be addressing new trends and areas of opportunity with his unique flair. You won’t want to miss how he challenges those in attendance to adapt to change and grow stronger from it.
• Actor and musician, Leslie Odom, Jr., of Hamilton fame, along with Kevin Coupe of MorningNewsBeat, will be explaining the importance of storytelling and fostering a creative spirit – essential to growers who want to really connect with their customers.

But that’s not all.

The expo will host Forums for the Future, a large session that discusses the important topics that affect the produce industry. Another amazing session will be the “Women’s Fresh Perspectives Leadership Breakfast” which will host Olympic Gold Medalist and World Cup Champion Lindsey Vonn. Those in attendance can hear the wonderful insights of a determined spirit.

There will also be a focus on Experience Extensions featuring industry leaders providing crucial insight and sharing their views on how to grow the industry.

To kick it all off the Welcoming Reception, on October 19th, will ring in the expo. Anyone who is anyone in the produce and floral industry will want to be there, and your team at Winter Sweetz intends to soak up as much information as possible in order to provide you with top-quality produce and customer service.

Lone Star Citrus Keeps Delivering

Alongside our attendance at this year’s PMA Fresh Summit, we are also proud to announce that this year Winter Sweetz’s groves had an optimal growing season because of timely summer rain that helped to produce more tonnage on our grapefruit trees than last year. Because of this heavier volume of fruit, we are expecting a steadier market this year.

Winter Sweetz’s parent company, Lone Star Citrus, is also set to launch a bi-monthly newsletter that will be chock full of helpful industry resources for buyers, as well as important information like crop updates, product condition, volume, and market information.
