This Spring Break, Your Tastebuds Will Thank You for These 4 Grapefruit Cocktails!
Spring break may look a little different this year, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still have fun! Mixing up some uniquely refreshing Texas red grapefruit cocktails is an excellent way to spend time with friends without having to go to crowded places.
Winter Sweetz wants to help you have a safe and good time. Check out the cocktail recipes below, and don’t worry if cocktails aren’t your thing, each drink has non-alcoholic alternatives available as well.
1. Club Soda with Grapefruit and Thyme
Vodka and soda: a classic cocktail! This beverage is long overdue for a sweet red grapefruit makeover! This simple cocktail is easy and quick to make, leaving you more time to spend living it up during your spring break.
The Mix:
- 3 oz. club soda
- 1 ½ oz. vodka (for a non-alcoholic version, substitute apple cider or white grape juice)
- 1 or 2 wedges of Winter Sweetz Texas ruby red grapefruit
- 1 sprig of thyme for garnish
Get to Pouring:
- Fill a rocks glass with ice, and prepare your grapefruit wedges.
- Add your vodka, apple cider, or white grape juice first, then the grapefruit. Top off with club soda.
- Add your thyme sprig as a garnish and serve.

2. The Greyhound
This popular cocktail is ideal for brunch, happy hour, or anytime you and your friends need a refreshing and tasty drink. The Greyhound is nearly as simple as vodka and soda, but instead of using soda, this cocktail uses delicious Texas red grapefruit juice.
What You’ll Need:
- 4 oz. fresh Winter Sweetz red grapefruit juice
- 2 oz. vodka (non-alcoholic alternative: white grape juice with lime juice)
- 1 lemon or lime wedge for garnish
What You’ll Do:
- Fill a Collins glass with ice cubes.
- Pour in the vodka or white grape juice with lime, then add the grapefruit juice.
- Stir well to incorporate the flavors.
- Garnish with the lemon wedge or lime wedge and serve.

3. The Blue Bayou
Is there anything more definitive for spring than pineapple, oranges, and, most importantly, Texas red grapefruit? Surely not! Bring a little color to your break with this electric blue cocktail full of citrusy goodness.
The Ingredients:
- 2 oz. fresh-squeezed Winter Sweetz ruby red grapefruit juice
- 1 ½ oz. vodka (or lime juice)
- 1 oz. blue curaçao (or non-alcoholic orange-flavored syrup and blue food coloring)
- ½ cup fresh or canned pineapple
- A pineapple wedge for garnish
The Steps:
- Chill a margarita or highball glass by placing it in the freezer a few hours before preparation.
- Blend together the ice, vodka (or lime juice), blue curaçao, fresh or canned pineapple, and grapefruit juice in a blender until smooth.
- Pour into the pre-chilled glass.
- Garnish with the pineapple wedge and serve.

4. The Hemingway Daiquiri
Ernest Hemingway was a frequent visitor at Cuba’s El Floridita bar where he had a standing order for grapefruit daiquiris. The recipe for this drink was first published in a book of Hemingway’s all-time favorite cocktails, so you can bet it is absolutely amazing.
Gather these Ingredients:
- ½ oz. fresh Winter Sweetz Texas red grapefruit juice
- ¾ oz. fresh lime juice
- 2 oz. rum (or 1 ½ oz. of apple juice and ½ oz. rum extract)
- ½ oz. maraschino liqueur (or the syrup from maraschino cherries)
- ½ oz. simple syrup
- Maraschino cherries
How to Make It:
- Fill a cocktail shaker with ice, and add rum (or its nonalcoholic alternative), the lime and grapefruit juices, liqueur, and the simple syrup.
- Shake well.
- Add crushed ice to a cocktail glass, then strain the concoction over ice.
- Garnish with cherries and serve.
