Our Favorite Grilled Grapefruit Recipes!

Here at Winter Sweetz, we know all kinds of grapefruit recipes, and not all of them are what you’d expect. For example, how often have you heard of grilling grapefruit?

You might not have heard of it, but we swear it’s delicious! In fact, it’s one of our favorite ways to eat grapefruit! Keep reading to check the best grilled grapefruit recipes we have in our recipe collection.

Classic Grilled Grapefruit

Whether you’re looking for some tasty new breakfast cuisine or you’re on the hunt for a healthy new dessert, classic grilled grapefruit is a must! To grill grapefruit the classic way, you just need a little honey and allspice–and some delicious fresh Rio red grapefruits of course! You can top your grilled grapefruit with some maple syrup for a little added sweetness.

What You’ll Need

  • 1 fresh Rio red grapefruit
  • 2 tablespoons of honey
  • 1 pinch of allspice, ground

Grilling Your Grapefruit

  1. Prep and preheat your grill.
  2. Peel your grapefruit taking care to remove as much white pith as possible using a paring knife or grapefruit knife.
  3. Cut your grapefruit into quarters and place in a shallow oven-proof dish or grill pan.
  4. Combine your honey and allspice and drizzle over the grapefruit.
  5. Grill until golden brown, about 5 minutes, and serve.

Pistachio and Cinnamon Grilled Grapefruit

If you’re looking for a new and exciting way to eat and serve grapefruit, have we got the recipe for you! This recipe combines the subtly sharp taste of cinnamon with the tangy taste of grapefruit and the nutty taste of pistachios. In other words, there’s a whole lot to love about this recipe! Plus, eating half a grapefruit with your meals has some awesome health benefits!

The Ingredients

  • 2 Rio red grapefruits
  • 1 tablespoon of honey
  • 1/2 tablespoon of brown sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon of cinnamon
  • ½ cup pistachios

Making Your Grilled Grapefruit

  1. Prep and preheat your grill.
  2. Cut your grapefruits into halves.
  3. Grill your grapefruit halves cut-side down in a cast iron grill pan on medium heat until grill marks appear, up to 5 minutes.
  4. Mix your honey, sugar, and cinnamon together in a small bowl.
  5. Toast your pistachios in a shallow pan over medium heat taking care to toss the pistachios to prevent burning. Toast until they release a fragrant smell, about two minutes.
  6. Plate your grilled fruit and drizzle each grapefruit half with the honey mixture. Top with the toasted pistachios and serve.

Honey Ginger Grilled Grapefruit

Last, but not least, we’ve got a grilled grapefruit recipe with some extra zing! Ginger and grapefruit is a fantastic flavor pairing, and we bet you’ll love some ginger-grilled grapefruit! You won’t just get the health benefits of grapefruits with this recipe, you’ll also get the super benefits of ginger. Don’t miss out on this tasty recipe!

Ingredients You’ll Need

  • 2 Rio red grapefruits
  • ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons of fresh ginger
  • 4 tablespoons of honey

Preparing Your Grapefruit

  1. Prep and preheat your grill.
  2. Start by cutting the top and bottom off of your grapefruit. Then, cut each fruit into 4 slices horizontally, creating circular slices.
  3. Remove as much of the peel and white pith from the grapefruit as possible.
  4. Heat your honey in the microwave for 30 seconds. Combine with the vanilla and ginger.
  5. Using half the mixture, brush honey on one side of each grapefruit slice.
  6. Grill your grapefruit, honey-side down, on medium-high heat for about 5 minutes.
  7. Brush the leftover honey mixture on the tops of the grapefruit slices, and flip.
  8. Grill for another 5 minutes and serve immediately.
